Pacific art is in the spotlight in Brisbane as the Pasifik Horizon exhibition brings together artists from Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia.
Presented by Paradise Palette Art Institute at the Royal Queensland Art Society's Petrie Terrace Gallery, the exhibition runs from 28 October to 8 November 2026. The gallery identifies participating artists as Apa Hugo and Clement Koys from Papua New Guinea and Stéphane Foucaud from New Caledonia.
The exhibition offers Brisbane audiences an opportunity to engage with contemporary Pacific perspectives through painting and visual storytelling. The gallery describes works that explore village life, cultural symbolism, Melanesian identity and the artistic influences of the Francophone Pacific.
For Pacific communities in Australia, the event is also an opportunity to see artists from the region represented in a public gallery setting. It draws attention to creative expression that does not always receive the same visibility as Pacific sporting achievements.
Brisbane City Council lists admission as free, with no booking required. The venue is Petrie Terrace Gallery, 162 Petrie Terrace, Brisbane.
The exhibition continues until Sunday 8 November. Visitors should check the gallery's current opening hours before travelling.
Pasifik Horizon is a reminder that Pacific stories are being told through art as well as news, sport and community life.
