Toa Samoa face uncertainty over playmaker Chanel Harris-Tavita ahead of Sunday's Rugby League World Cup semi-final against Australia.
Harris-Tavita suffered a hamstring injury during Samoa's 20–18 loss to Tonga at CommBank Stadium on 1 November. According to NRL.com, he felt for his hamstring after attempting a kick at goal in the 52nd minute and was due to undergo scans.
The injury comes at a difficult time for Samoa, who have reached the final four and must now prepare for the defending champions. Harris-Tavita's availability could influence the team's attacking combinations and bench options.
The extent of the injury has not been confirmed in the reporting reviewed for this article. That means it would be premature to describe him as ruled out or to name a replacement.
Samoa will need to make a decision based on his recovery and the medical assessment before finalising their team. The coaching staff also have to consider how any change might affect the combinations developed through the group stage.
Australia and Samoa meet at Allianz Stadium on Sunday 8 November. The official team list and subsequent medical updates will be important as the match approaches.
